Got a child free night and want to go wild in a way only knackered parents can? Here’s some hotel recommendations to help you make the most of it as we all know it’ll be another 6 months before you’re able to find another willing babysitter (if it’s less you’re lucky or bribing someone!!). This is our carefully crafted list of the top 8 hotels that are within a short drive from home so less time travelling and more time spa-ing (yup just created a new word), drinking, eating and sleeping.
All are by personal recommendation or recommended by friends and I’d be sure to go back to them all. They all also feature spa and swimming facilities, enjoy!
Old Thorns Golf & Country Estate, Liphook
A hotel close to my heart as it’s the one we stayed at on our wedding night (for that full story just ask me!). Also recently refurbished it boasts a new spa area, nice bedrooms and good dining options. Just off the A3 it’s easy to get to and situated in beautiful countryside.
Rooms from £90+ (weekend rates). You can get a spa retreat from £109 per person.
The Winchester Hotel & Spa, Winchester
A stylish hotel perfect for a night away. In the centre of Winchester you can combine a spa break with a night on the town and even walk home afterwards.
Rooms from £90+ (weekend rates). You can get a luxury spa break including dinner for £99 per person.
Push the boat out…
The Goodwood Hotel, Chichester
So technically not in Hampshire but only a short drive (am I allowed this one?) is The Goodwood Hotel. Set at the heart of the glorious 12,000 acre Goodwood Estate, it’s stylish and luxurious without being stuffy. We have stayed here on a wild child free night and it’s lovely! Big swimming pool complete with loungers to relax around, a spa with treatments (and you can get good packages online with spa treatments included) and really nice rooms. Restaurant and drinks were also excellent, think cocktails and steak!
Rooms from £150+ (weekend rates)
Rhinefield House, The New Forest
A personal favourite of mine is Rhinefield House. A perfect place for afternoon tea, Rhinefield House is like a magical secret, located deep within the New Forest. Serving up an awesome steak with cocktails, beautiful rooms and beautiful grounds! The only downside for me is the spa, although everything else is so lovely I wouldn’t let this put you off. You can also hire an apartment rather than a hotel room as part of the hotel is timeshares. We have done this and it was brilliant, you still get access to all the facilities including room service but have extra rooms to put the kids to bed.
Rooms from £200+ (weekend rates)
Careys Manor, The New Forest
The star of this hotel is the spa which is gorgeous! It’s nestled away in the historic trees of Brockenhurst and provides a sanctuary where you can unwind your mind, detox your soul and indulge your senses. A tip is to get a room in the old part of the building, it’s the only 4 poster bed we’ve ever had!
Rooms from £100+ (weekend rates)
Blow the whole bloody budget hotels!!
Four Seaons, Dogmersfield
Be a Lady and take a trip to 21st century Downton Abbey. Lose yourself in the spa, restaurants or grounds.
Rooms from £250+ (weekend rates)
Chewton Glen, The New Forest
Chewton Glen is the bees knees! A beautiful and luxurious country house hotel and spa set in 130 acres of Hampshire countryside on the edge of the New Forest National Park. It’s also only 15 minutes walk from the sea in case you’re lucky enough to get some sun during your stay.
Voted ‘Best UK Holiday Hotel’ and listed as one of the ‘World’s Best Hotels’ by Conde Nast Traveller readers in 2014 it’s certainly worth blowing the budget for.
Rooms from £300+ (weekend rates)
Lime Wood, The New Forest
Lime Wood is a boutique country house hotel, that is set in the heart of the New Forest National Park (bit of a theme with these fancy ones). Stunningly beautiful this is sure to feel like a real treat and I’m jealous if you ever get to go, please don’t tell me about it! Friends have been, hence why it makes the list!
Rooms from £330+ (weekend rates)
